You Got a Job Offer from "Us" - How to Know if it's Real

by Strom Engineering

If you’ve found yourself on this blog, you’re probably here for one of two reasons:

  1. You’re questioning: Is this job opportunity from Strom Engineering legitimate - what is Strom?
  2. You’re here because you got a phone call, text or email from someone claiming to be from our recruiting agency and you’re trying to figure out if it’s real.

Whichever reason brings you here, we’re going to give you some insight. Keep reading to learn how to protect yourself during your job search.

Is Strom Engineering a Legitimate Recruiting Company?

Yes, Strom Engineering is a legitimate, well-established staffing company. We’re a real recruitment agency that hires employees for short-term jobs. We focus on manufacturing and other industrial positions. Some of the most frequent jobs we hire include:

  • Machinists
  • Engineers
  • Fabricators
  • Assemblers
  • Technicians
  • Operators

You can learn more about what we do on our page: How it Works. If you haven’t worked with a staffing agency before, check out our blog: What is It Like Working With a Staffing Agency?

How to Know if You’re Actually Speaking to Us

Did you get an email, text or phone call from someone claiming to work for Strom Engineering? Here’s how to check if that message actually came from us.

1. Check the Sender’s Phone or Email

The next thing to check is who the correspondence is coming from. Read who the sender is to see if it has an @stromengineering.com or @stromconsulting.com email address. If the email address is close but not exact, it’s not us.

If you receive a phone call or text from Strom, it will typically come from 952-544-8644 (our applicant line) or 1-800-205-8732 (our main line). There may be cases where a recruiter uses a different phone number. When in doubt, you can always call our 1-800 line to confirm if a text or phone call is actually from Strom.

2. Make Sure You're on the Right Site

If you’re offered a job from Strom, you may receive a link in your email. If it’s real, that link’s URL may contain stromengineering.com or myavionte.com. Strom Engineering is our main website, and Avionte is the tool we use to securely store our applicants' personal information. Any links from us will always start with https.

Before clicking on any link in an email, hover over it with your mouse to see the URL. You can do this on your phone by pressing down on the link instead of tapping it. Check to make sure the URL matches our website exactly.

3. We Will Not Request Sensitive Information via Text or Email

To apply for jobs, you will need to provide sensitive information like your Social Security Number. Strom Engineering will never ask for your SSN via text or email. We always ask our job applicants to use Avionte to submit their personal information. We will never ask you to directly send sensitive information through an unsecured channel like email.

If you are being asked to send your SSN via email by someone who says they work at Strom, please call us at 952-544-8644. Never send your SSN via email or text message.

4. They’re Asking You to Pay Money

If a “recruiter” from Strom asks you to submit payment for an application fee, a fee to “hold” a job, or any other payment, that is a scammer. This is true for any job recruiter that you may encounter. A legitimate recruiter representing a temp staffing agency will never ask you to pay in order to secure a job.

If you’ve encountered any of the red flags above, please call us at 952-544-8644. We want to track anyone pretending to be Strom so we can take action.
